‘Second Screen Canal Tour’
What did Dokkumer used to look like? Much has been preserved but a lot has also been demolished and lost. It is precisely because much can no longer be seen that we have developed the ‘Second Screen Canal Tour’.
Besides the highly entertaining and informative narration by our guides, they are supported by old photos, drawings and reproductions of paintings shown on a TV screen (the Second Screen) at the front of the barge.
All our photos were provided to us by the Historical Centre Dokkum. Together with them, we carefully searched for photos that fit the sailing route and give a nice picture of Dokkum through the years. You will understand that these will mainly be drawings or paintings from before 1900, but it is also not our intention to turn it into an architecture route. In the past 100 years alone, Dokkum has undergone spectacular changes, which we want to show by means of the photos.
