Second Screen Canal Cruise

What did Leeuwarden look like in the past? Much has been preserved but a lot has also been demolished and lost. It is precisely because so much can no longer be seen that we developed the ‘Second Screen Grachten Toer’.

Besides the highly entertaining and informative narration by our guides, they are supported by old photos, drawings and reproductions of paintings shown on a TV screen (the Second Screen) at the front of the barge.

All our photos were provided to us by the Historical Centre Leeuwarden. Together with them, we carefully searched for photos that fit the sailing route and give a nice picture of Leeuwarden through the years. You will understand that these will mainly be drawings or paintings from before 1900, but it is also not our intention to turn it into an architectural route. In the past 100 years alone, Leeuwarden has undergone spectacular changes, which we want to show by means of the photos.

The photos on screen from then, in the canal Leeuwarden now! The ‘Second Screen Canal Tour'
