Purchased the shell in 2023 and completely rebuilt
How proud we are. Halje trawaljeis the name of our new barge. Well as you can see, it is not exactly new but this is just what we are looking for. A historic Frisian barge that fits in perfectly with our fleet. This barge dates from about 1900 and has been ‘riveted’, welding was not done in those days.
Before she goes into the shed on 27 December 2021 but just drilled a hole in it to let all the water drain out and then clean the inside.
Cold job to do in December of 2022 but tar chipping goes best below zero. It splashes off.
Jacob Blom of the insurance company EOC inspects the hull of the Halje Trawalje on 1 February 2023.
The bottom of our new barge ‘Halje Trawalje’ has been approved. For insurance purposes, the bottom has to be at least 3 mm thick and it turned out that the hull is still 4 mm thick on average. So in 100 years 1 mm worn out. Turns out to be a good buy!
